VU Research Library: Interactive, In-Depth, Indispensable

“The Virtual University site is a great resource. The articles are very informative and easy to understand. They also provide links to other articles and resources that can further expound on the subject matter. The faculty response and subscriber response feature is really helpful in seeing the whole picture as it provides varying insights and sometimes diverse perspectives.”

So begins one of myriad compliments showered upon a true gem among Big “I” member benefits and online resources: the Virtual University Research Library.

The VU Research Library is not just an archive dumping ground of previous articles or random writings. Created and maintained by Bill Wilson, VU director and Big “I” technical expert, it is a deliberately assembled collection of articles from a wide variety of talented experts on nearly any subject that falls under the insurance umbrella.

Hundreds of articles explain and explore realistic issues and policy coverage questions in four distinct sections: commercial lines, personal lines, life/health and agency management, as well as featured resources that cover the hottest industry topics. A major plus is that VU articles don’t merely repeat expert opinion. Where other articles or valuable online resources are available to flesh out the discussion or the article references a specific coverage form, the VU provides direct links to those materials. The VU also encourages reader comments and follow-up questions through the “Ask an Expert” service, often provoking additional information from the article author or other experts that may enhance, revise or update the original information.

What if you don’t find your specific topic specified in the extensive content listings? All content is fully searchable. Simply enter your term or coverage form into the “search this site” field at the top of the Web page to discover every article that may address your issue.

The VU is a member-only benefit. Login and password are required. Questions? Email Virtual University staff.
