Last week, the Big “I” Diversity Task Force received formal recognition as one of the nation’s top 25 diversity councils and employee resource groups (ERGs) for 2014.
The task force ranked 10th overall of the top 25 leading organizations. The Association of ERGs & Councils, a division of PRISM International, Inc., also presented the award to companies including American Airlines, AT&T, General Motors, FedEx and The Boeing Company.
Since its inception in 2001, the Diversity Task Force has made strides to increase industry awareness and knowledge about the value of diverse workforces and consumer markets. As noted in its mission statement, “The Diversity Task Force engages and develops a sustainable diverse independent agency network by partnering with state associations, carriers, and industry affinity groups.”
The task force is working to further engage state associations in diversity and inclusion efforts; increase recruitment and retention efforts by identifying diverse agents countrywide; and become a resource center for agents, state associations and carrier partners to provide information about increase diversity in the independent agency system.
