| Each year, Trusted Choice® acknowledges the time, effort and enthusiasm its member agencies give back to their communities. One agent who made community involvement a priority was Dan Fulwider—a former government affairs coordinator and membership liaison for the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, who inspired many people with his personality and dedication to his community.
In recognition of Fulwider’s community involvement, Trusted Choice established an annual $2,500 award for a selected agency to donate to a charity of its choice. During this morning’s Big “I” Legislative Conference General Session Breakfast, Big “I” Chairman Randy Lanoix presented the 2016 Dan Fulwider Award for Community Involvement to the Snellings Walters Insurance Agency in Atlanta.
Snellings Walters is the corporate sponsor of the largest Cystic Fibrosis Walk in the nation, bringing together other independent agencies, companies, re-insurers and more to support the cause. The agency expects to raise $2 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which will also receive the $2,500 award.
“All your firms are filled with people with needs and passions that are looking for permission to unleash those passions,” said Mike Iverson, principal of Snellings Walters, who accepted the award on behalf of his agency. “Help your people release their passions. We have a great industry. We can make a big difference in so many ways, and I encourage you to do so.”
