Independent agents are becoming more comfortable with technology that is affecting the IA channel, Safeco says in a new study. For example, more than 90% are either very comfortable (67%) or somewhat comfortable (25%) with e-signature; 41% are very comfortable with telematics and 38% are somewhat comfortable; and 32% are very comfortable with gap coverage for rideshare/homeshare activity, while 42% are somewhat comfortable. Safeco also found that a hefty percentage of agencies plan to invest in new digital capabilities and new personnel. Moreover, the vast majority of agencies provide quotes online, use e-signature and allow text messaging with clients.
