Help Customers Find You
Web searching, especially on smart phones, is a major and increasing way people find small businesses. In the near future, your website will also need to be discoverable through voice search, such as Siri or Alexa. Score.org has a good rundown on “Getting Found on the Web,” advice from 2019 survey results from small business owners. If you want to get more introspective, take a quiz on what kind of innovator you are in IA magazine’s December 2019 issue, which also offers nice starting points for tech strategies you might pursue in 2020.
CX Work Group – Customers’ Tech Demands Are Achievable
Though technology dominates the customer experience in many consumer sectors, independent agency clients still like that personal touch. This means that technology for agencies needs to be particularly adapted to efficiencies more than self-service, according to members of ACT’s Customer Experience Work Group. Ben Schultheis and Casey Hearring of Schultheis Insurance, Dina Buxton of Crane Agency, and Lisa Parry Becker of Parry & Son Insurance highlight some of the challenges in improving the customer experience via technology.
ACT Meeting Report from Fort Worth: Money Doesn’t Truly Motivate the Workforce
The saying goes, “Money talks,” but Seth Preus, founder and creator of Mivation, says it goes only so far in motivating your agency’s staff. In a presentation to the October 2019 ACT Meeting attendees in Fort Worth, Preus said you need to hire people who have the “three M’s”: mastery, motivation and momentum. Agency managers can support these workers’ intrinsic impetus through a regimen that includes metrics and specific performance plans—daily.
Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020
A Q&A with Jay Byrnes and Cindy Hower
The Agents Council for Technology is saying a hearty thank-you to Jay Byrnes for his years of service as chair of ACT and is offering a warm welcome to his successor, Cindy Hower. ACT News turned to both leaders to take a look at how the past is merely prologue. The IA channel is churning with new opportunities and demands, and ACT continues to help agencies navigate the waters. Byrnes and Hower make the case for maximizing agency benefits from membership.
