Progressive Simplifies Agent Compensation

Building upon its $1-billion acquisition of homeowners carrier American Strategic Insurance, Progressive just announced additional compensation opportunities for independent agents.

The company's new Paths to Partnership program features a new national auto commission schedule and annual performance bonuses to reward agents who build larger personal auto books and place longer-retaining personal auto business with Progressive.

"Paths to Partnership provides more choice for independent agents," says Karen Bailo, agency sales and distribution general manager at Progressive. "The national auto commission schedule brings greater consistency, stability and transparency to our compensation programs across states. Offering multiple paths ensures Progressive can help agents achieve their goals, no matter how they choose to partner with us."

Progressive will begin rolling out the new national auto commission schedule in phases, beginning with 12 states this July and another 32 in January 2018, when the new partner program and performance bonus will launch nationally. Changes to compensation and other support Progressive provides will impact independent agents differently depending on specific client profiles and how much business the agent has with Progressive.

The company also plans to roll out comprehensive enhancements to its commercial and personal lines quoting and servicing platforms over the next 18 months to further extend ease of doing business with Progressive.
