Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-New York) will address the Young Agents & InsurPac State Chairpersons Legislative Luncheon, to take place on Wednesday, April 18 during the 2018 Big “I" Legislative Conference.
Rep. Rice represents New York's 4th Congressional District, which covers parts of Nassau County, New York, a diverse suburban community located on Long Island. First elected to Congress in 2014, she emerged as a leading Democratic voice on national security issues and served as a member of the Homeland Security Committee and the top Democrat on the Transportation Security Subcommittee. She was reelected to a second term in 2016, and now serves as the top Democrat on the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence.
“The Big 'I' is honored that Rep. Rice, a rising star in the Democratic party, will be addressing our young agents and InsurPac leaders as they prepare to meet with their congressional delegations," says Charles E. Symington, Jr., Big “I" senior vice president for external, industry and government affairs.
Prior to her position in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Rice served as a prosecutor for more than two decades. She is a graduate of The Catholic University of America (1987), earned her law degree from Touro Law Center (1991) and now resides in Garden City, New York.
“Big 'I' young agents are the next generation of independent agency leaders and InsurPac is one of the most powerful political action committees in the country, largely due to the leadership of our state chairs," Symington adds. “These two forces are among the most influential in the industry and will greatly benefit from Rep. Rice's insights."
The luncheon, which will take place at noon at the Grand Hyatt Washington hotel in Washington, D.C,, will also feature presentation of the annual InsurPac National Championship awards, InsurPac Young Agent of the Year and Eagle awards.
