Invest℠ Partners with MIA in Apprenticeship Program

With Invest’s national apprenticeship program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, Invest is now working with 31,000 students in 26 states to educate high school and community college students on insurance, financial services and risk management topics, and encourages them to pursue a variety of careers in the insurance industry.

The Maryland Insurance Administration announced last week that they will be joining the apprenticeship program, which will begin in September.

“Invest is proud to partner with the Maryland Insurance Administration to bring more economic opportunities to young people in the state," says Deborah Pickford, executive director, Invest. “We strongly believe that a new insurance apprenticeship program is a big win for our independent insurance agencies who are hiring smart, motivated people and a big win for people seeking to build a long-term career in a thriving, growing industry."

The apprenticeship program will allow high school students to work at insurance companies to gain valuable experience.

“It's a chance to introduce young people to the insurance industry—and not just in a classroom but in the real world through a real job," said Al Redmer Jr., Maryland Insurance Commissioner. “We're excited by the possibilities."
