Big ‘I’ Senior VP Elected Chairman of NDSS Board

The Big “I" is pleased to announce that Charles Symington, Big “I" senior vice president of external, industry and government affairs, was elected as the new chairman of the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) Board of Directors at its annual meeting on Sept. 24. Symington begins serving his volunteer role immediately and will continue in the position for two years.

NDSS is the leading human rights organization for all individuals with Down syndrome and envisions a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations and become valued members of welcoming communities.

“NDSS makes such an impact in the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families, and I am honored to assume the role of chairman," Symington says. “I welcome the opportunity to serve alongside a committed executive committee and board to continue the great work NDSS does for the community."

Symington resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Cathy and their three children. He is the proud father of a six-year-old son with Down syndrome.
