The Big “I" Diversity Council is pleased to collaborate with our industry partners as we commemorate Women's History Month!
Women's history was first recognized as National Women's History Week the week of March 8, 1980. In 1987 it finally moved from a one-week celebration in March to a celebration for the entire month. Now the National Women's History Alliance spearheads a theme each year for Women's History Month—this year it is “the spirit of challenging times."
As many of us push through another challenging month, let's commemorate women across our industry by participating in the following events.
Nominate candidates by March 12 for the Elite Women Awards Showcase. Insurance Business America is looking to once again recognize trailblazing women across our industry, celebrating women who have led well, broken barriers and perhaps even shattered a few glass ceilings. Be sure to help us spotlight the phenomenal women leaders across the independent agent channel and beyond.
Are you involved with the Women in Insurance Initiative (WII), a partner of the Million Women Mentors network? If not, learn more about the initiative and to check out these featured whitepapers: “Women in Insurance: Leading to Action" and “Increasing Gender Diversity in Insurance Leadership."
Also, tune in on March 8 for Million Women Mentors' special virtual event with Women Business Collaborative (WBC) on mentoring and the role it is has played in female leaders' ability to rise to leadership roles.
And mark your calendar to join us for The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation's (IICF) virtual Women in Insurance Conference June 15-17. The theme is “Advancing Ideas into Action" by making an impact in the industry through diversity, inclusion and innovation. Registration is now open!
