This election cycle, InsurPac, the Big “I” political action committee (PAC), disbursed more than $1.8 million to 292 campaigns—and 272 of those candidates won, resulting in an impressive 93% victory rate. This political strength has routinely made InsurPac the largest property-casualty agent PAC and one of the largest small business PACs in the country.
Over the years, InsurPac has helped the Big “I” become one of the most recognized trade associations on Capitol Hill. In fact, it is among the top one-tenth of 1% of all federal PACs in terms of dollars received and disbursed. But it needs to keep pace as other insurance industry and small business PACs continue to grow.
InsurPac exists to protect and promote the independent agency system. It puts agents and the Big “I” government affairs team in front of legislators, enabling them to develop relationships to advocate for the livelihoods of independent insurance agents. Relationships with clients are critically important for agents and it’s the same way on Capitol Hill. Those who help with campaigns and are present from day one with support are those who are trusted and remembered. InsurPac must continue to have the resources to establish relationships with legislators early and often.
As the 2014 fundraising campaign winds down, InsurPac is poised to raise more than $1 million for the second consecutive year. At press time, InsurPac has topped $940,000 in receipts and pledges.
