Young Agents Can Apply for Legislative Conference Scholarships

The Big “I" Legislative Conference is just around the corner! From April 30 to May 2, hundreds of independent insurance agents and brokers will descend on Washington, D.C., to hear from industry leaders and meet with state legislators.

To help offset some of the costs associated with attending the event, the Big "I" national Young Agents Committee (YAC) is offering scholarship opportunities for first-time attendees.

The national YAC is offering a $500 first-timer scholarship to two young agents from each state association. Young agents should submit their completed application form to their state association by March 3. To qualify, the applicant must meet the Big 'I" definition of a young agent—40 years old or younger, or with less than five years of industry experience—and has not attended the Legislative Conference previously.

Additionally, the $1,000 Young Agents Legislative Conference Scholarship will be presented to one emerging leader who has not previously attended a Legislative Conference. This scholarship was established in honor of Maurice Herndon, a previous Big “I" employee who paved the way for the government affairs program that exists today. Young agents can submit applications through an online form by Monday, March 10.

Reach out with any questions to Jamie Behymer or a member of the national YAC
