Columbia Insurance Group, headquartered in Columbia, Missouri, is the newest company partner of the Agents Council for Technology (ACT).
“ACT welcomes Columbia Insurance Group to the table and applauds the company’s commitment to advancing technology for independent insurance agents and brokers to better serve their customers,” says Ron Berg, ACT executive director. “We look forward to working with the Columbia Insurance Group team on key technology issues that impact the independent agency system.”
Columbia Insurance Group’s rich history dates back to 1874, when the Boone County Home Mutual Insurance Company was founded in Columbia, Missouri. In the 140 years that followed, the company changed names, added products and services and grew. It currently serves clients in 18 states.
“We are dedicated to servicing our independent agency partners and providing technological solutions that will enhance their daily workflow,” says Rory Read, Columbia Insurance Group vice president of information technology. “In our endeavors to continuously improve our offerings, we found ACT to be a complementary fit.”
Five entities currently comprise Columbia: Association Casualty Insurance Company, Citizens Mutual Insurance Company, Columbia Mutual Insurance Company, Columbia National Insurance Company and Georgia Casualty & Surety Company.
“ACT’s dedication to refining and improving current processes while identifying new and necessary technology is invaluable,” Read says. “We look forward to actively engaging with the membership, taking advantage of ACT resources and advancing the independent agency channel.”
