Detroit Uses InVEST® Curriculum in Summer Program

This week, the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) partnered with the city of Detroit for the Grow Detroit’s Young Talent summer program.

As part of the initiative, 25 students ages 17-22 are currently enrolled in the InVEST® insurance education portion of the program, which includes 90 hours of instruction throughout the six-week course. NAAIA is using InVEST curriculum and volunteers for the program, which will include classroom training, guest speakers and visits to local insurance agencies and companies.

The Young Talent Summer program provides the city’s young people with income and job training. Participants work 120 hours and receive 36 hours of work readiness preparation, including financial literacy.
