InVEST GRADUATE/SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT JOINS THE RANKS OF THE NATIONAL OFFICE
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 2004 – Lisa Williams, InVEST graduate and 1999 scholarship winner, has been hired as InVEST Coordinator for the national office, announces Barbara Miller-Richards, the program’s executive director.
In this role, Williams will coordinate events, programs and informational requests for InVEST, a 501(c)3 educational trust and the only education program that strengthens the insurance industry by developing a large pool of qualified recruits ready to assume entry level positions in the industry.
Prior to joining InVEST, Williams conducted research for the United Nations Media Project and the World Bank’s Future Harvest Foundation. She also worked for CNN’s “Crossfire” program and Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).
Williams is no stranger to the insurance industry. Williams’ mother is an independent agent with Iler, Wall & Shonter in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“It is exciting that InVEST has a chance to hire one of its own,” said Miller-Richards. “Lisa has a wealth of communications and research experience that will no doubt enhance our efforts as we continue to expand this industry strengthening program.”
Williams grew up in Florida and holds a degree in political science from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Founded in 1970 and based in Alexandria, Va., InVEST is the only education program that strengthens the insurance industry by developing a large pool of qualified recruits. The program prepares more than 6,000 students each year for insurance-related careers with a hands-on curriculum taught in high schools and community colleges. Many graduates go on to pursue insurance careers.
