Big ‘I’ Statement on House Passage of ENROLL Act

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 16, 2019 —The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I") today released the following statement by Charles Symington, Big “I" senior vice president of external, industry & government affairs:

“Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1386, the ENROLL Act, as part of a broader healthcare package. The legislation would restore $100 million in funding for Navigators. The ACA originally created the Navigator program to help consumers enroll in federally-facilitated plans. The Big 'I' opposes the ENROLL Act and has continuously advocated against funding Navigators, believing  agents and brokers are best suited to help consumers meet their health care needs. The Big 'I' urges members of the U.S. Senate to oppose this legislation."

Founded in 1896, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I") is the nation's oldest and largest national association of independent insurance agents and brokers, representing more than 25,000 agency locations united under the Trusted Choice brand. Trusted Choice independent agents offer consumers all types of insurance—property, casualty, life, health, employee benefit plans and retirement products—from a variety of insurance companies.
