Florida Democrat to deliver remarks to young agents and InsurPac leaders at annual Legislative Conference.

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 8, 2019 - The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I") today announced that Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-Florida) will address the Young Agents & InsurPac State Chairpersons Legislative Luncheon at the annual Big “I" Legislative Conference.

The event will be held on Wednesday, May 8, at 11:30 a.m. in Washington, D.C., and will also feature the presentation of the annual InsurPac National Championship awards, InsurPac Young Agent of the Year and Eagle awards.

“The Big 'I' is honored that Rep. Murphy, co-chair of the moderate Blue Dog caucus and a true rising star in politics, will be addressing our young agents and InsurPac leaders as they prepare to meet with their congressional delegations," says Charles E. Symington, Jr., Big “I" senior vice president for external, industry and government affairs. “We look forward to hearing Rep. Murphy's thoughts on the need for continued grassroots advocacy during this time of divided government in the nation's capital."

Rep. Murphy represents Florida's 7th district which includes downtown Orlando, Maitland, Winter Park, and The University of Central Florida. She currently serves on the influential House Ways and Means Committee, where she is a member of the Subcommittee on Trade and the Subcommittee on Worker and Family Support. First elected to Congress in 2017, she has emerged as a leading moderate Democratic voice on the need for bipartisanship to address issues like drug costs and infrastructure.

The Big “I" Legislative Conference is the insurance industry's best-attended, most effective legislative meeting. This year's event will take place May 8-10 at the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel.

The Legislative Conference is an opportunity for Big “I" members to discuss important issues with their congressional representatives. Top issues this year include the NFIP, TRIA, data security/privacy, crop insurance, health care, tax reform, and insurance regulatory reform.
