A Year in Review

Thank you to our Big “I” Trusted Choice® company partners. We are looking at 2021 with hope and unity after the historic events of 2020—a pandemic, racial injustice and unrest, and an election year resulting in a Senate run-off.

But we also see the good that this year brought. We’ve seen carriers, agents and vendors all work together to continue to serve the community, bringing the changes needed to move the insurance industry forward. As an association, the Big “I” has continued to pivot and provide the services independent agents need—in large part because of your support.

Our achievements in 2020:

·         January brought our first ever industry diversity and inclusion symposium, Level Up Agent Summit, in New Orleans. Your leadership and investment in inclusion paved the way for an amazing and valuable event. Little did we know it was the last time we’d see many of you in person.  

·         Company partners helped create our first Big “I” Virtual Legislative Conference this past May, the largest legislative event we’ve had in the history of the Big “I” with more 7,000 views.

·         Critical lobbying for the CARES Act helped protect and provide resources through the Paycheck Protection Program for insurance agents and brokers and the many businesses they insure.

·         The Trusted Choice COVID-19 Relief Fund was created with the help of company partners to provide relief to independent agents in this great time of need.

·         We celebrated the great work of companies in giving back to consumers through $280 million donated to charities and $14 billion provided in policyholders relief payments.

·         The first Big “I” LET’s Do This Virtual Summit, hosted by the Agents Council for Technology, Big “I” Young Agents, the Diversity Council, and Big “I” Education, brought together an incredible lineup of presenters to help insurance professionals lead with intention, work smarter, and leverage technology. 

·         Trusted Choice launched a consumer advertising campaign, “You do You,” to showcase that no matter how much the world has changed, individuals and businesses still need the advice of a Trusted Choice independent agent.  

·         Companies helped steer agents to our weekly Facebook live HR session with Affinity HR Group to answer important HR questions for independent agencies navigating business in the fast-changing situations the coronavirus pandemic presented.

Our goals for 2021:

·         We hope to continue to work with you and your subject matter experts in the areas of technology, new talent, political environment, research and diversity inclusion.

·         We look forward to telling the story of how the insurance industry overcame and adapted to the challenges of 2020—and we know it’s a story that will pique the interest of many new college graduates and high school seniors to explore their future in insurance.

·         Amplifying the consumer brand for independent agents, Trusted Choice, on streaming services, social media and by helping our agents with strategic storytelling will continue to be a priority. 

·         Together, we can help independent agents be more successful, equip their needs and find resources to help them make their business soar.
