As businesses across the nation are working to adjust to
the quickly changing environment, we want to let you know that Big “I”
Markets is open for business as usual. There are no changes to our
hours or closures planned at this time.
Big “I” Markets is physically headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia at the
offices of the Big “I,” but our talented customer service staff, underwriters,
and marketing team are already nearly 100 percent remote and have been for many
years. We had our first fully remote staffer in 2002; in 2020 our team members
clock in to serve you from home offices in many states around the country. As
such, we are uniquely equipped to continue to serve you with minimal
interruption or adjustments to our existing workflow.
We are also accustomed to working electronically with our state association
partners, carrier partners, and most importantly, you, our talented Big “I”
Markets agents. We are ready to work!
Carriers are beginning to announce plans to assist insureds affected by
coronavirus. Please contact your Big “I” Markets underwriter via email or
a “New Message” via Big “I” Markets quote detail to discuss the specific needs
of your customer.
To ensure premium is received and remitted to the carrier in the event of
mandatory quarantines, we are only accepting electronic payments for
Non-standard Homeowner and Coalition policies. ACH payments incur no cost;
however, credit card payments will be charged 3.25%. Visit https://iiaba.epaypolicy.com.

In rapidly changing times, strong institutions can provide leadership and
comfort. The Big "I" was founded in 1896 as the National Local
Association of Fire Insurance Agents. With the expansion of property-casualty
business and coverages, the organization’s name was changed to the National
Association of Insurance Agents in 1913. To emphasize its members’ ability to
work with a variety of insurance companies, the organization became the
Independent Insurance Agents of America in 1975. In 2002 we became the
Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America, For over 120 years,
we’ve been here to serve members, and will be continue to be here to serve our
members.
