Tom Spencer
Thomas C. Spencer, CPCU, CLU, ARM is the retired president of America One, a franchisor of insurance agencies with offices across Michigan. Currently serving as controller and insurance manager for a marine construction and ship repair firm, Spencer continues as president of InsuranSkills, Inc., a Michigan-based insurance consulting firm. He is a CPA, has earned an MBA and holds the CPCU, CLU, and ARM designations. He is licensed in Michigan as a property, casualty, and life agent and a property/casualty and life insurance counselor.
Mr. Spencer has owned and managed independent insurance agencies for over 45 years and has performed consulting services for attorneys, accountants, public entities, and businesses. He has provided expert testimony for the defense in a number of insurance agents E&O cases. He has taught insurance subjects at the college level and has written and presented continuing education courses for Michigan agencies. His articles have appeared in CPCU Journal, Marine Business Journal, Issues in Risk Management, Michigan Banker, In ACORD, and Michigan Counties.
