The Big “I” National Young Agents Committee (YAC) encourages Young Agents – those under 40 years of age or with less than 5 years experience in the industry – to become aware of and get involved in the activities and programs of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I”).
- LAUNCH the next generation of independent agency system leaders
- BUILD involvement in and activism for the legislative issues vital to the future of the insurance industry
- ENCOURAGE the revitalization of state Young Agents programs and the strengthening of existing ones
- DEVELOP awareness of and participation in the state and national activities of the Big “I”
To ensure the perpetuation of the independent agency system, the Big “I” National YAC will provide Young Agents with leadership training and networking opportunities giving them the skills they need to improve and enhance their agencies and their state Young Agents programs. Through such educational opportunities and association involvement, the National YAC will help to develop the next generation of association and industry leaders.
2016 Events and Initiatives
2016 Big “I” Legislative Conference
This annual event includes an in-depth legislative issues briefing, hundreds of meetings on Capitol Hill with lawmakers and Big “I” members, a general session with keynote speaker and networking opportunities. The event also offers special opportunities for young agents to hear from legislators including the Young Agent InsurPac Luncheon. The event will also be host to the second annual YAC Gives Back: A Benefit for InVEST Scholarships. The event, hosted by the national Young Agents Committee raises scholarship funds for students looking to pursue a career in insurance.
Big “I” Young Agents Leadership Institute
The Big “I” Young Agents Leadership Institute offers interactive sessions and leadership training to improve and expand Young Agents programs nationwide. Programming is designed to help state committee chairs and others young professionals make their way up the ranks of the independent agency system. Sessions are interactive in nature and focus on sales, motivation and leadership. Networking opportunities are abundant providing attendees a chance to get to know current industry leaders.
National YAC Mentor Program
Members of the National YAC offer hands‐on expertise to help state associations to help revitalize their Young Agents programs or strengthen existing ones.
National YAC Awards Program
The Awards program is designed to honor state Young Agents committees who have demonstrated outstanding accomplishments in five categories – membership development, communications, political involvement, young agents meeting, state committee project and new the Outstanding InVEST Supporter. Young Agents Committee of the Year is also honored. The National YAC Awards will be presented at a special reception held during the Young Agents Leadership Institute.
