ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In late December, the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) released the long-overdue report on “Ways to Modernize and Improve the System of Insurance Regulation in the United States.” The report, originally due in January 2012, was mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank) which created FIO. The hearing will discuss the report’s findings and will include two panels: the first will be a government panel and the second will include the Big “I” and other industry representatives.

Jon Jensen, an independent agent from South Carolina and Big “I” Government Affairs Committee chairman, will represent the association. He is president of Correll Insurance Group, headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C.

Founded in 1896, the Big “I” is the nation’s oldest and largest national association of independent insurance agents and brokers, representing a network of more than a quarter of a million agents, brokers and their employees nationally. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. Independent agents and brokers offer all lines of insurance—property, casualty, life, health, employee benefit plans and retirement products. Web address: www.independentagent.com.
