The Big I” National Young Agents Committee offers each state association two $500 First-Timer Scholarships to help Young Agents attend the Big I” Legislative Conference for the first time. To qualify for this award, an applicant must follow the Big “I” definition of a Young Agent (40 years or younger and/or less than 5 years of industry experience) and has not previously attended Legislative Conference.
Young Agents
Email your completed application form to your state association by Friday, March 13, 2026. Applications will NOT be accepted at the national office. Your state association determines who receives a scholarship. Scholarships are paid to the order of the state association post-conference.
State Association Staff
By Friday, March 27, 2026, send the applications of the selected scholarship recipients to youngagents@iiaba.net.
Scholarship funds will be paid to the order of the state association within two weeks post-conference. It is the state association’s responsibility to disburse the funds to the recipients.

The Young Agents $1,000 Legislative Conference Scholarship will be presented to ONE Young Agent who has not previously attended a national Legislative Conference to help defray some of the costs of attending the event.
This scholarship was established in 2003 to honor Maurice Herndon who was named head of the Big I” Washington, D.C. office in 1949. He coordinated the Big I” state associations and built the government affairs and grassroots operations via his extensive travel, education, passion, and hard work. His impact on the industry is immeasurable and he will be remembered by the Big I” family as a true legend. This scholarship will recognize a Young Agent who shows an interest in government affairs and involvement in legislative advocacy for their state.
Submit your completed application form by Friday, March 27, 2026.
Submissions will be reviewed by a judging panel at the Big “I.” The winner will be contacted prior to Legislative Conference. Scholarship funds will be paid to the to recipient’s state association post-event.
