Nevada Young Agent Receives Maurice Herndon Scholarship

Jana Schellin Foster exemplifies Young Agent Committee’s goals and industry’s future.

Jana Schellin Foster.jpgWASHINGTON, D.C., May 4, 2017—The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America National Young Agents Committee (YAC) welcomes Nevada young agent Jana Schellin Foster, recipient of the 2017 Maurice Herndon Scholarship award, to Washington, D.C., this week for the Big “I” Legislative Conference. Schellin Foster is part owner and agency manager at the Nevada Insurance Agency company in Carson City, Nevada.
 
The award is presented to one first-time young agent attendee of the Big “I” Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.         
 
“The national Young Agents Committee is proud to present Jana with a scholarship so she can join us this week for her first national Big ‘I’ Legislative Conference,” says Joe Hamilton, national Young Agents Committee chairman and independent insurance agent at the Hal Rakowski Insurance Agency in Lakeside, California. “Jana’s enthusiasm and dedication to the industry are inspiring. We look forward to working with her at the national and state level.” 
 
Schellin Foster is an active member of the Nevada Young Agents Committee (NYAC) and the Nevada Independent Insurance Agents (NIIA). She currently serves as NYAC vice-chair. In 2016, she championed the first InVEST program in Nevada and has promoted the industry through an association trade show and by lobbying in the Nevada state capital Schellin Foster has earned numerous recognitions for her hard work, including 2016 Nevada Young Agent of the year.
 
The $1,000 scholarship award is presented in honor of Maurice Herndon, who led the Big “I” Washington D.C. office in 1949.
