Inside the ACT session at Ivans Connect: The Future of AI, Data & Connectivity in the Independent Agency Channel

This year’s session at Ivans Connect drew a packed house for ACT’s interactive roundtable sessions—ten concurrent discussions centered around AI, data, and connectivity in the independent agency channel. Each table brought together agents, carriers, and technology providers for an open dialogue about progress, priorities, and what’s next for the industry.
Across the sessions, several clear themes emerged.
First, AI adoption continues to accelerate, but success depends as much on people and process as on technology itself. Participants shared real-world use cases—such as using AI to streamline back-office tasks, reconcile commissions, or compare policy forms—that are already saving time and improving service quality. Yet, many agreed that education, governance, and clear policies remain essential as agencies and partners explore new tools.
When it comes to data, conversations pointed to both opportunity and complexity. The group discussed how data consistency and integrity play a critical role in making technology more effective, from how information is entered and shared, to how it powers automation, analytics, and decision-making. Stronger alignment on data standards and stewardship will be key to unlocking the next wave of efficiency across the channel.
The topic of connectivity tied it all together. Whether through APIs, downloads, or other digital bridges, connectivity remains the foundation that allows AI and data to work in harmony. As one participant noted, “Connectivity is the electricity that powers everything else.” The discussions reinforced how important it is for all stakeholders—agents, carriers, MGAs, and tech providers—to continue working together to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve the customer experience.
Most importantly, these conversations reflected the industry’s shared commitment to collaboration. While each stakeholder group brings different challenges and perspectives, the sessions made clear that the collective goal remains the same: to help independent agencies thrive through smarter, more connected technology.
ACT will share a full recap of these roundtable insights later this fall, along with highlights from our upcoming Tech Trends Report, which will further explore the evolving landscape of AI, data, and connectivity in 2025.
In the meantime, Big “I” member agents and ACT Supporting carrier and technology provider partners interested in shaping these conversations are invited to join an ACT workgroup. Our workgroups on AI, Data, and Connectivity continue to gather leaders across the channel to identify challenges, share success stories, and help build practical solutions that move the industry forward.
