We WIN: The Rise of Women in Insurance Conferences

Across the insurance industry, one thing is clear: when women gather to learn, network, and inspire one another, everyone benefits. That’s the heart of the growing movement behind Women in Insurance conferences. These events are designed to elevate women’s voices, provide leadership development, and build a more inclusive future for the independent agency system.

These conferences go beyond panels and presentations. They create spaces where women at all stages of their careers can find mentors, share challenges, and celebrate successes. Women in insurance bring unique perspectives to client relationships, team leadership, and community building. Yet many still face hurdles like limited access to leadership roles, fewer opportunities for high‑level networking, and lack of visible role models. Women-focused events directly address these gaps.

Big “I” state associations have been at the forefront of creating these spaces. Each state hosts an event that has its own focus and local flavor. They all share one common goal: equipping women in the industry with resources, tools, and connections.

Here are examples of opportunities for women in insurance led by state associations:

  • The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of California hosted their 2nd annual Independent Women Summit in February 2025. This event has exceeded sponsorship and attendance goals both years of its existence, with over 200 individuals in attendance. Survey results show that 96% of participants would recommend the event to an industry colleague, and 100% of sponsors found value in their support of the event. The program combines professional development and inspiration with opportunities for authentic connection – culminating in an “End with Zen” networking reception featuring spa swag bags and free chair massages.
