My insurance career began in 1977 following graduation from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio with my BSBA in Finance. My family has been in the insurance business since 1914. So my career began with my father stating that if I wanted to eat, I will see you Monday morning. The best piece of advice came on that Monday with "Today is the smartest day of the rest of your life." This was from Richard Tilney, CPCU.
I am now a partner with United Heartland Insurance Agencies in Hamilton, Ohio. We are a consolidation of agents with similar family heritages reflecting the values of our forefathers.
I taught for the Independent Insurance Agents of Ohio for about 6 years. My subjects were CGL and Business Auto. I also taught the "old" CLM manual back in the day when paper was still used. Education has always been important in our constantly changing world. I also act as a consultant with Prometrics as a subject matter expert in the development of prelicensing
requirements and the State of Ohio for the annual license exam review.
My outside interests include trains, both real and model, reading, and playing tennis. You need to get away from this business at the end of the day.
