Investing in the Future of Insurance

Invest is expanding its student programming this fall with the launch of Future Ready Saturdays in Southeast Michigan. The initiative will begin with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit in partnership with Insuring Michigan Futures and the Spencer Educational Foundation. Over four Saturdays—two this fall and two this winter—students in grades 10 through 12 will complete eight Invest sessions covering an introduction to insurance, risk management, agency operations, auto and renters insurance, and surplus lines. Students will also gain practical insurance knowledge while exploring career pathways, connecting with industry professionals and accessing scholarship and internship opportunities.
Building on this work, Invest is preparing to launch its third student challenge, “Innovation in Action: Help Next Gen Discover Their Insurance Path.” This year, students will be challenged to develop their own insurance agency team. Last school year, 193 student teams representing 79 schools across 27 states participated. The top five teams included three schools from Texas and two from Tennessee. This fall, insurance professionals will visit classrooms to congratulate the top teams and recognize other students who participated.
On Sept. 30, Invest will partner with Applied Systems to introduce 100 students from four high schools across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area to the insurance industry at the Applied Net 2026 conference. Students will participate in young agent roundtables, hear from a panel of industry experts—including former Applied CEO Taylor Rhodes—and complete an insurance-themed scavenger hunt with exhibitors. They will conclude the day by attending the conference keynote address by former President George W. Bush, gaining a unique perspective on leadership and decision-making from someone who served as the nation’s ultimate risk manager.
The momentum will continue on Oct. 1 in Baltimore with Invest’s in-person TopGolf fundraiser, held in conjunction with the Big “I” Fall Leadership Conference. The event is part of Invest’s fall Back-to-School campaign, which mobilizes support to expand our programs and reach more students and schools nationwide.
