AI GuardWorks Joins ACT

The Big “I” Agents Council for Technology (ACT) is pleased to welcome AI GuardWorks as its newest supporting partner.

AI GuardWorks is an artificial intelligence (AI) governance and continuous-assurance platform helping insurance agencies and other businesses understand and control how AI is used in their operations. The company works with agencies and carriers, as well as with industry associations and vendors whose platforms include AI. It helps organizations put practical controls in place, maintain human oversight and demonstrate that safeguards are working.

“Most agencies are already using AI, whether they’ve made a deliberate choice to or not. It’s built into their management systems and carrier portals, and it’s in the tools their staff pick up on their own,” says Kasey Connors, ACT executive director. “Naturally, AI governance is surfacing as a critical concern. AI GuardWorks’ background in agency operations and errors & omissions will bring a useful reference point to ACT as it guides agencies on making decisions about AI implementation.”

AI GuardWorks was built by a team with decades of experience in property & casualty insurance, including independent agency ownership. The firm grew out of two years of intensive, hands-on work with AI and recognition that agencies were adopting it faster than they could oversee it.

Its approach starts by cataloging where AI already operates in a business, including features embedded in agency and carrier systems and tools employees use on personal accounts. It then maps the points where AI influences a decision or a client communication and helps the agency set rules for when AI output needs human review and who signs off. The firm also builds a technical boundary that governs what information leaves the agency and what AI-generated content enters the client file, so people stay accountable for consequential decisions—and the agency has documentation to show for it.

“AI is already embedded throughout agency operations, often without anyone recognizing where it influences decisions or exposes client information,” said Gregory Marholin, Advisory Board Member of AI GuardWorks. “An AI policy alone cannot govern that environment. Agencies need practical controls, qualified human oversight and the ability to validate, enforce, and prove that safeguards are working. We look forward to contributing that operational perspective to the ACT community and helping agencies adopt AI with greater confidence and accountability.”

As a supporting partner, AI GuardWorks will engage with ACT members on emerging topics, including AI governance in agency operations, errors & omissions exposure tied to AI use, managing unapproved AI tools, and much more as the technology continues to evolve.
