ADA Website Accessibility Compliance: Answers to Your Questions

When the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law in 1990, the internet barely existed. Over the past few years, however, courts have increasingly applied its accessibility requirements to business websites. This trend prompted over a thousand ADA-based website accessibility lawsuits in 2018 alone.

To address some of the key questions and concerns Big “I" members have about this topic, the Big “I" Office of the General Counsel and the Agents Council for Technology (ACT) have released a new FAQ document, available as a free member benefit.

To access a copy, log in to the Big “I" website, select Legal Advocacy under the Resources drop-down menu and click Memoranda & FAQs. The FAQ is titled “FAQ Regarding Website Compliance with the American Disabilities Act."

If you have any questions, contact Ron Berg, Scott Kneeland or Eric Lipton.
