Big ‘I’ Member Testifies in Congress on Flood Insurance

At the U.S. House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance hearing on flood insurance on Friday, March 10, Big “I" member Chris Heidrick, owner and principal of Heidrick & Company Insurance and Risk Management Services in Sanibel, Florida, testified on behalf of the association.

Watch the recording of the livestream of the hearing, “How Do We Encourage Greater Flood Insurance in America?" Heidrick's testimony begins at 39:07.

Heidrick, who is also the former chair of the Big “I" Flood Insurance Subcommittee, asked Congress to “make modest policy changes that could help grow the market and protect consumers." He went on to say that “the Big 'I' strongly supports H.R.900, which was recently introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives by Reps. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Missouri) and Kathy Castor (D-Florida). The bill would amend the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 to clarify that private flood insurance can satisfy NFIP continuous coverage requirements."

Flood insurance is one of several important items on the agenda at the Big “I" Legislative Conference, to take place April 26-28 at the Renaissance Washington, D.C. Downtown Hotel. Encourage members to attend to get informed and involved in protecting their industry. Visit the dedicated Legislative Conference webpage to register, view more information about the Conference and see the full schedule of events.
