Rep. Greg Walden (R-Oregon), chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives House Energy & Commerce Committee, will address the Big "I" Large Agent/Broker and CEO dinner on Thursday, May 4 during the association's annual Legislative Conference.
As chair of this "A" committee, Rep. Walden plays a key role in numerous issues that impact the independent agency system, including efforts to repeal, replace or reform the Affordable Care Act. His commitment to and expertise in health insurance issues spans decades. Rep. Walden formerly served as a member of the Hood River Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and on the Oregon Health Sciences University Foundation Board, where he helped improve access to affordable health care, especially in rural communities.
For the last two election cycles, Rep. Walden was selected by his conference to serve as National Republican Congressional Committee. Many consider him largely responsible for his party maintaining the majority in the House.
The invitation-only event is sponsored by the Big "I" Large Agent and Broker Roundtable, a group which advises the Big "I" Board of Directors on topics that are important to the industry.
