| In April, the Big “I" Legislative Conference brought together 70 young agent attendees—40 of them first-time attendees—together in Washington, D.C. At this event, 36 scholarships totaling $18,000 were given to young agent first-time attendees. Throughout the conference, agents lobbied on Capitol Hill to continue the legislative advancement of the independent agency system. In September, the Young Agents Leadership Institute in Niagara Falls, New York, united 97 attendees—63 of them first-time attendees—to share ideas to help young agents market smarter, carve a rewarding future, and build lasting relationships with peers and industry leaders. Twelve scholarships totaling $7,000 were distributed among attendees. The national Young Agents Committee (YAC) invited state associations to give back to the community by joining the GIVE moment. Taking place from June 1-10, agents were invited to share their community service activities online by posting on social media and using the hashtag #TCAgentsGive. Members of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents volunteered at Cradles to Crayons, which combats children's clothing insecurities and provides essentials to children who don't have access to these resources. The Nevada Independent Insurance Agents also hosted an event at their annual convention, which included live music, cornhole, and axe throwing. All proceeds went to Kids' Chance of Nevada, an organization that provides scholarships to children of parents who have been injured or killed in a workplace accident in Nevada.
Throughout the year, the national YAC created new resources to support young agents across the country. YAC launched the Best Practices Guide to Young Agent Programs and created a Mentorship Guide for Emerging Leaders. In October, the national YAC teamed up with the Young Agents of Oklahoma to kick off a bourbon raffle for a Big I Oklahoma young agent whose mother has breast cancer.
