Several awards were presented to state associations during the 2023 Big “I" Fall Leadership Conference last week in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Metropolitan Washington Association of Independent Insurance Agents was presented with the Big “I" Outstanding Membership Growth Award, with a 7.4% increase in membership in 2022.
The Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents earned the Outstanding Membership Champion Award. The state association made member engagement and member experience a top priority. The new membership manager created packages, email campaigns and welcome materials on all the benefits of the association. Together, association staff created a practice that involved all staff in recruiting and renewing members. MAIA kicked off the Agency Launch program to help jumpstart agencies as they join the independent agency system. The group also engaged mergers & acquisitions consultants to share perpetuation alternatives with members.
The Big “I" national Young Agents presented the 2023 Outstanding Young Agents Committee of the Year awards in the following categories:
YAC of the Year. In recognition of the outstanding efforts of a state YAC to foster association growth and secure the future of the independent agency system.
Winner: Young Agents Committee of Big I South Carolina
Political Involvement. For outstanding achievement in promoting Young Agent involvement in the legislative process.
Winner: iLEAD (Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina)
Invest℠ Supporter. For outstanding achievement in promoting Young Agent involvement in Invest.
Winner: Michigan Young Agents
Membership Development. For excellent achievement in recruiting and maintaining Young Agent participation in association activities.
Winner: NextGen (Big I New York)
Community Service. For outstanding achievement in a service project that benefits the community, the insurance industry, and/or the independent agency system.
Winners: Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin Emerging Leaders Group and Georgia Young Agents Committee
Young Agents Meeting. For excellence in providing and promoting an annual Young Agents meeting.
Winner: Massachusetts Young Agents Committee
Breakthrough YAC. A special recognition of a state that is working hard to engage the next generation.
Winner: Maine Young Agents Committee
Innovator. In recognition of the outstanding efforts of a state young agents committee for their innovation and perseverance.
Winner: Young Agents Committee of Oklahoma
In addition, the Young Agents State Liaison of the Year award was presented to Taylor Hendrickson, Florida Association of Insurance Agents Young Agents Council.
