U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) was the featured speaker at the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) Annual Celebration and Business Luncheon last Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. Bob Rusbuldt, Big "I" president & CEO, hosted the discussion about federal legislation, insurance and business issues, and politics to close out the successful conference.
The discussion covered a variety of key issues that impact independent insurance agents in Texas and across the country, including health care reform, tax reform, the NFIP and numerous challenges facing the Republican majority in Congress.
Sen. Cornyn was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2002 and is currently serving his third term. In addition to serving on the Senate Finance, Intelligence and Judiciary Committees, Sen. Cornyn serves as the Majority Whip, the second-highest ranking position in the Senate Republican Conference. Prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate, he served as a district judge, a member of the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Attorney General.
