Gov. John Kasich to Address the Big “I”

Ohio Republican to deliver remarks at annual Legislative Conference event on April 24.

johnkasich.jpgWASHINGTON, D.C., April 15, 2015—The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) today announced that Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich (R) will address its board of directors on Friday, April 24, 2015.

“The Big ‘I’ is honored that Ohio Gov. John Kasich will be addressing our association’s leaders from across the country during their annual gathering,” says Robert A. Rusbuldt, Big “I” president and CEO. “We look forward to hearing Gov. Kasich’s perspectives on the country’s economic challenges and solutions to those challenges, top issues impacting small business, the economic turnaround in Ohio, and other salient issues that impact independent agents and their customers.”

The event is part of the annual Big “I” Legislative Conference. Gov. Kasich will address the board at 5:00 p.m. EDT at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill in the Regency Ballroom. His remarks will be open to the media.

Gov. Kasich was sworn in as Ohio’s 69th governor in 2011 and previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 18 years. In the House, he served as chairman of the Budget Committee where his stalwart commitment to balancing the federal budget largely defined his legislative priorities. After leaving Congress in 2000, he ran for President, worked as a managing director in the Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers, was a commentator for FOX News and served as a Presidential Fellow at his alma mater, The Ohio State University. Gov. Kasich is also the author of three New York Times best-selling books.

The Big “I” Legislative Conference is the insurance industry’s best-attended, most effective legislative meeting. This year’s event will take place April 22-24 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

The legislative conference is an opportunity for Big “I” members to discuss important issues with their congressional representatives and other decision makers in Washington.

Other highlights of the Big “I” Legislative Conference include in-depth issues briefing sessions; appearances by numerous bi-partisan high-profile speakers discussing important insurance, business, and national issues confronting lawmakers as well as agents and brokers, and hundreds of meetings on Capitol Hill between Big “I” agents and brokers and their elected representatives in Congress.
