IIABA ANNOUNCES DATES FOR BEST PRACTICES BUSINESS SYMPOSIUM

Attendees can learn secrets of success used by America’s most successful agencies

ALEXANDRIA VA, May 5—Insurance industry professionals and business partners can enhance their sales and agency management skills during the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America’s (IIABA) Best Practices Business Symposium, to be held Oct. 10 through 11 in conjunction with the Big “I” Convention in Orlando, Fla.

The symposium is an intensive program of group events, networking opportunities and informative workshops designed to give agency owners and their management staff the tools and expertise to attain their agencies’ business and sales goals.

“Whether your management abilities and skills are well-used, under-used or still unexplored, you’ll leave with new inspiration and innovative ideas to develop a highly valuable and successful agency,” says Madelyn Flannagan, IIABA vice president of education and research.

Independent agency owners and managers, brokers, carrier representatives, and insurance industry business partners are encouraged to attend the symposium, which kicks off Oct. 10 with the presentation of the 2004 Best Practices Awards to agencies. This session also will be highlighted by a motivational sales speaker, a “state-of-the-industry” report and a networking social event for symposium attendees.

The next day, Oct. 11, participants can attend workshops on a variety of topics designed to help agents and brokers increase their agencies’ sales, efficiency and longevity. Workshop topics include: How to Become a Best Practices Agency; Branding Your Best Practices Agency; Agency Valuations: Maximizing Your Agency’s Value; Mergers & Acquisitions Marketplace; Perpetuation Issues; Incentive Compensation; Sustaining a Competitive Advantage; Employee Strategies; Employee Benefits: Selling Life, Health & Other Benefits; Profit Strategies; Revenue Growth Strategies; Banks in Insurance; and Technology Strategies.

“With these workshops, agents, brokers and other industry professionals can learn from leading insurance experts as they speak on topics that can help make their agencies more efficient and more profitable,” says Flannagan. “Attendees also will receive the tools and expertise they need to implement the business concepts of Best Practices agencies in their own agencies.”

As an added benefit, symposium attendees can participate in the Big “I” convention, the industry’s most well-known gathering of independent agents and brokers and home to the industry’s largest trade show.

The convention, which takes place Oct. 9 through 12, as well as the Best Practices Business Symposium, fall on the three-day Columbus Day holiday weekend and will provide attendees with pre-school and school-age children the opportunity to mix business with a fantastic mini-vacation that provides children of all ages exciting opportunities, family fun and relaxation.
