Indiana Young Agent Receives Prestigious National Award

Steve Duff receives Big "I" Young Agents State Liaison of the Year.

Alexandria, Va., Oct. 13, 2010 - The National Young Agents Committee (YAC) of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA or the Big “I”) presented the second annual Young Agents State Liaison of the Year award to Steve Duff, Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana, Inc. (IIAI) vice president of government affairs and Young Agents Committee state liaison.

The award is presented to a Big “I” YAC state liaison who has provided outstanding support and leadership to their state Young Agents program. Last year marked the inaugural year for the award and recognized Dan Fulwider, posthumously, for his efforts in Iowa and the industry. The committee decided to continue this honor on an annual basis.

“The Big ‘I’ is proud to recognize Indiana’s Steve Duff as the Young Agent State Liaison of the Year for his outstanding support and leadership to the national and Indiana Young Agents programs,” says Andy Beauchamp, Big “I” National Young Agents Committee chairman and vice president of the Morrison Galliher Agency in Muncie, Ind. and its parent company, Beauchamp McSpadden in Wabash, Ind.

Duff has been part of the IIAI team since 1996 and previously served as a lobbyist for the Insurance Institute of Indiana. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Ball State University.

Beauchamp presented the award at the recent 2010 Young Agents Leadership Institute in San Francisco. Attendees were able to network with peers, Big “I” leaders and company representatives to develop valuable professional and personal contacts.

The weekend program included more than 100 young agent leaders who gathered at the Big “I” Young Agents Leadership Institute in San Francisco for networking; workshops on social media, marketing and leadership; the President’s Panel breakfast; and other industry events.

The Big “I” National Young Agents Committee (YAC) encourages young agents – those under 40 years of age or with less than five years experience in the industry—to network, learn and get involved at all levels of the independent agency system.

Founded in 1896, the Big “I” is the nation’s oldest and largest national association of independent insurance agents and brokers, representing a network of more than 300,000 agents, brokers and their employees nationally. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. Independent agents and brokers offer all lines of insurance—property, casualty, life, and health—as well as employee benefit plans and retirement products. Web address: www.independentagent.com.
