ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 20, 2011 – Trusted Choice® has awarded the annual Dan Fulwider Award for Community Involvement to Kenny and Denise Abrams of the Abrams Insurance Agency in Baltimore. To honor Dan Fulwider who passed away after a valiant fight with cancer, the award recognizes Trusted Choice® member agents for going above and beyond in volunteering time and enthusiasm to causes close to their heart.
“Kenny and Denise Abrams give back so much to the community that supports their business and their family,” says Dave Evans, Trusted Choice® executive director. “Their efforts to improve the lives of so many people, especially in Baltimore’s Sandtown neighborhood, are truly inspirational.”
As the recipient of the Dan Fulwider Award for Community Involvement, the Abrams receive a $2,500 contribution for the charity of their choice and were recognized at the 2010 Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention. The charity the Abrams selected is Sandtown Habitat for Humanity in Baltimore.
The Abrams are active in numerous causes, particularly in the Sandtown neighborhood of Baltimore, and were instrumental in saving the Village Learning Center, public library near their office, from closing. They volunteer countless hours to Habitat for Humanity efforts, mentor and tutor local children at the center, provide financial planning and insurance seminars for seniors, and raise money for the local Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
“Dan Fulwider was the government affairs coordinator and membership liaison for the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, and a huge supporter of Trusted Choice®,” said Mike Miley, Big “I” chairman. “His dedication to his community and the causes he believed in inspired all who knew him.”
The award was presented at the association’s annual Legislative Conference & Convention.
